Who am I?

I have been taking pictures of nature .... mostly birds since I retired 11 years ago. I love being in nature and photography gives me an excuse to get out as often as I can. My main focus is birds and I'm learning more about birding each year, but rather than just counting, I prefer to bring a record back of what I saw. Combining birding with photography- I call myself a 'Photobirder'.

Equipment

I'm a Nikon guy and currently have 2 bodies. A Nikon D750 full frame that I use for general photography and a Nikon D7500 crop frame that I use exclusively for wildlife with long lenses.

Current Gear.

Bodies - Nikon D750 and Nikon D7500

Lenses - I recently acquired the Nikon 500mm f5.6 PF lens and it is always on the D7500. This is an incredible lens (possibly the best overall for wildlife considering how sharp and light it is).

This is often paired with a Nikon TC-14E III  teleconverter which combined with the crop factor gives a 35mm equivalent focal length of 1000mm.

I also have it's little brother, the Nikon 300mm f4 PF.

For full frame general, landscape and portrait photography I have a variety of lenses that I love to play with.

Nikon 24mm - 120mm f4. A versatile general lens for walking around

Nikon 70mm - 200mm f4 for portraits and wide telephoto. Can be used with 1.4x tele.

Sigma 50mm f1.4 ART. A specialty lens for portraits with super shallow DOF.

Samyang  14mm f2.8    super wide angle for sky photography and architechure.

Sigma 105mm f2.8 MACRO. I don't use much but possible someday.
